Tigress Priyanka dies at Nandankanan

Bhubaneswar: A 19-year-old Royal Bengal Tigress—Priyanka— died at the Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) here Monday, forest officials said.

Born to Ashok and Tanuja at NZP March 25, 2000, Priyanka was unwell and under treatment for around two years.

“There was a constant deterioration in Priyanka’s health over the past month. She died around 10:30am at Enclosure No. 18,” the officials pointed out.

With Priyanka’s death, the count of the stripped animals at NZP came down to 26, the officials said. In 2018, a 10-year-old tiger had died at the zoo.
