Tigress ‘Sundari’ row: BJP’s Angul district president held

Angul: Jarpada police arrested BJP’s Angul district president Bhagirathi Pradhan for his alleged involvement in violence related to the protest following the death of a man by Royal Bengal tigress ‘Sundari’ at Satkosia October 21.

Pradhan who was the prime accused in provoking the mob against district administration, was allegedly involved in staging a road blockade on NH 55 at Mundasahi Chhak near Jarpada October 21 by placing the body of Trinath Sahu of Tainsi village on the road.

Pradhan along with other locals had pelted stones on police personnel, vandalised police vehicles, and set a police van afire.

The number of arrests in connection with this case rose to 29. Angul police had earlier lodged three FIRs against 200 persons, including Pradhan, in this connection.

Meanwhile, some BJP workers protested against the arrest of Pradhan.
