Bhubaneswar: The Odisha and Madhya Pradesh governments have discussed the modalities for shifting tigress Sundari from Satkosia Tiger Reserve to Kanha National Park in MP.
The Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) of both the states Saturday held discussions over the matter. According to sources, the PCCF of Madhya Pradesh informed his Odisha counterpart that instructions have been given to the authorities of Kanha National Park to bring back tigress Sundari.
However, no decision has been taken as of now on the dates. The Odisha government can take a decision only after getting a confirmation letter from MP government. “The process of reverse relocation has now started and it might see completion in February,” said sources.
Earlier, in 2018 a tiger couple was relocated to the state for boosting the tiger population in Odisha. However, the plan got a setback when tiger Mahavir was killed in an alleged poaching incident and tigress Sundari was caged after she killed some villagers.
