Time to quit smoking the Salman Khan way

Mumbai: Well socializing with glass of liquor in your hand and a cigarette dangling from the lips is one of the most common sights in the Hindi film industry. But not anymore for actor Salman Khan. The superstar has supposedly kicked the butt and has not touched a drink for over five months now according to a source close to him.

The 53-year old Salman Khan was one who puffed on more than 20 cigarettes a day and he was not averse to having a couple of drinks once in a while. But due to a recent health scare he suffered, Salman Khan has turned a total teetotaller now.

A year back Salman had been hit by trigeminal neuralgia which is a kind of nagging nerve pain. The recovery process is long and sources said that Salman Khan does not want to hamper the healing process by either smoking or drinking. “He is now extremely disciplined about his health,” said a source close to the actor. “He has many projects lined up and he doesn’t to do anything that will act as a hindrance to the completion of these projects,” the source added.

These days even if he goes to a party Salman Khan refrains from smoking and drinking. According to the source he has also become very careful about his diet avoiding foods rich in fats.

The source said that, Salman’s illness was a huge source of worry to his family members and close friends. Hence, he doesn’t want to do anything that will put them in a problem. Quitting drinking and smoking is his first step to show his family members that he is conscious about his health.

Interestingly Salman, who had been asked by his doctors not to smoke every since his last health scare, has apparently found a peculiar habit to kick the butt. Whenever, he feels the urge to smoke, he puffs on to it without lighting it.

Those who want to quit smoking can try the Salman Khan way. It can work.
