Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Tourism Department was conferred with the ‘Tourism Leadership Award’ at the ‘Global MICE & Luxury Travel Congress and Awards that was conducted in Mumbai recently.T he award was received by Sunil Kumar Patnaik, assistant director of Odisha Tourism.
The Global event brought together leaders from 29 countries for a meeting and to celebrate the growth of tourism.
Odisha Tourism had earlier bagged the ‘Tourism Brand of the Year’ at ‘SATTE 2019’ in New Delhi. Odisha Tourism has bolstered its marketing strategy by banking on ground development and projecting parts of the state which hitherto had remained unexplored. It should be added here that by hosting the Hockey World Cup in the city last year and also a few other major international sports events, Odisha has established itself firmly in the global tourist map.
Vishal K Dev, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Odisha Tourism said: “I am thankful to the jury for bestowing upon us the ‘Tourism Leadership Award’. We have been working hard towards developing Odisha Tourism as a new and exciting brand. Awards such as these will go a long way to motivate and encourage us to work that much more hard to make Odisha a prime tourist destination.”
