Top government officials conduct surprise checks in district hospitals after implementation of Mo Sarkar Yojana

Malkangiri: Amid allegation of messy health care in Maoist affected districts Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur, the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) project director Shalini Pandit, Finance Principal Secretary Ashok Meena and Chief Minsiter’s secretary VK Pandian paid a surprise visit to the district headquarter hospitals (DHH) to review healthcare facilities and infrastructures in state-run hospitals. It is reported that their visit is part of the state government’s ‘Mo Sarkar Yojana’ programme.

The special aircraft carrying the officials landed around 9.30 at Jeypore. After reviewing the heath care at the DHH at Jeypore the officials left for Nabarangpur and Malkangiri.

At the DHH here hospital a meeting was chaired by VK Pandian which was attended by District Collector Manish Agarwal , SP Rishikesh Dnyandeo Khilari, CDMO Ajay Kumar Baitharu and ADMO Anil Kumar Mishra. During the meeting discussions on how to improve the health care services were discussed.

The officials also reviewed the functioning of various district wings in addition to issues relating to district health care services. Pandian also directed the district officials to undertake proper execution of the programme in the district.

Briefing reporters after the review meeting, the CDMO said steps will be taken to fill up all the vacancies in the hospital, specialist doctors from various districts and from outside the state will check patients twice a week at the DHH. Free medicines provided by the Odisha government will also be given to the patients.

Various facilities including dormitories and canteen for patients and their relatives will be put in place at the Malkangiri DHH, CDMO Baitharu said.

Shalini Pandit expressed hope that Malakngiri district will top the list in health care facilities and hospital management in lining with the ‘Mo Sarkar’ programme.

It is pertinent to mention here, the Government of Odisha has launched ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiative on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti this year to make the governance people-centric.
