Bhubaneswar. : The District Centre Owners Association stated that it would organise a plastic and chemical-free Durga Puja at Chandrasekharpur here.
Association Secretary Sarojkanta Mallick said, “Our Puja is different from other Durga Puja functions in This time we will make a torana which will have Hindu, Muslim and Christian symbols. The torana will portray the brotherhood of these religions in our area.” He was addressing a press conference here Wednesday.
The most interesting part of our Durga Puja is that we take the Kalash in a procession from the home of S.K Sahajan, a Muslim, and all Brahmins will stay in his house during the Puja. We started this Puja in 2008, and we make sure to play only Sankha, Mahuri and Ghanta near the Pandal. No DJ music is allowed. During the five-day long Puja, we offer prasad to all residents, and we also supply ladoos to corporate offices and banks nearby, Mallick added.
An amount of Rs 15 lakh has been collected for the celebrations, and people of all communities are cordially invited. The pandal will be 50 feet high and will have a width of 80 feet. Eminent craftsman Babuli Udagata will design it, Mallick said.
Association President Sanjay Kumar Sahani said the uniqueness of their Durga Puja is entailed in the motto of unity in diversity, as everyone will light up a Diya in front of their door during the Visarjan of Goddess Durga and will pray for her return next year.
Our Association is undertaking many social works. This time we have decided to donate Rs 50,000 to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Sahani said.
