Bhadrak: A tourist bus carrying nearly 70 passengers turned turtle on National Highway-16 near Bhandaripokhari area in Odisha’s Bhadrak district, a source said Thursday.
As many as 25 passengers were injured in the mishap.

According to the source, the bus was heading towards Puri from West Bengal. The accident took place as the bus driver lost control of the vehicle near Bhandaripokhari petrol pump.
Of the 25 injured, six are stated to be critical, the source informed.
On being informed, local police rushed to the spot. The cops with the help of Fire Services personnel rescued the passengers and admitted them to Bhandaripokhari Community Health Centre.
Later, many of the injured were shifted to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital for better medical care.
It can be mentioned here that road accidents are on a rise in Odisha. As per official data, as many as 5,467 persons were killed in road accidents in 2022 which is 7.6 per cent higher than 2021.
