Bhubaneswar: In a bid to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the Rukuna Rath Yatra of Lord Lingaraj which falls on Ashokastami (April 13) and the return car festival which will be observed April 17, the twin-city Commissionerate Police has imposed certain traffic restrictions on the duo day between 1pm and 8pm, Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty said Wednesday.
According to the twin-city police, no vehicle shall be allowed on Rath Road from Lingaraj temple to Mausi Maa temple via Rath Gada, Muna Medical, Tini Mundia, Gasagorasar and Barik Sahi Squares.
Besides, vehicles from Mausi Maa Square shall be diverted to Vivekanand Marg. From Barik Sahi, vehicles from Bhimatangi side shall be diverted towards Hata Sahi via Muna Medical Square. Vehicles from Garage Chhak side shall be diverted from Lion’s Gate towards Hata Sahi.
Moreover, buses and four-wheelers will be parked in New Market Complex and the parking lot near Lingaraj police station. Similarly, vehicles from Kachera Pindi shall be diverted and shall not be allowed towards Tini Mundia Square, a senior police official said.
“Violation of the order is an offence punishable under Sections 96 of Odisha Urban Police Act-2003 and is compoundable by an officer with a minimum fine of
Rs 500 which may extend up to Rs 1,000 per offence,” the official added.
