Traffic curbs for Hockey World Cup

Bhubaneswar: The Commisionerate Police has issued a traffic advisory for the upcoming Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018 beginning November 28.

Accordingly, the Commissionerate Police has earmarked seven paid parking places (Rs 50 for four-wheelers and Rs 25 for two-wheelers) except at Janata Maidan. These are: Old AG Colony ground near Sastri Nagar area for both four and two wheeler vehicles; the ground at Behera Sahi near Gate No1 and Nayapalli Ravana Podi ground for two wheelers; IDCOL ground near Hotel Crown and Nayapalli Durga Puja ground for four wheelers; and Nico Park Road and Janata Maidan for all types of vehicles.

The road from Jayadev Vihar to Behera Sahi will be completely sealed during the mega event from November 27 to December 16. Traffic check points will be set up at Sastri Nagar, Nico Park, Kalinga Hospital. Traffic movement through the underpass at Nayapalli will be made one way. Vehicular movements from Governor House side on Bidyut Marg will be diverted towards Sachivalaya Marg at Sastri Nagar.  Vehicles of ticket and pass holders and local residents will be allowed on the Nico Park Road to the Behera Sahi only after showing passes or related documents to the checking staff.

Vehicles coming on service road from Acharya Vihar side to Jayadev Vihar will be diverted to NH 16 at the flyover. Vehicles coming from Nanadankanan side will be diverted at Kalinga Hospital to Acharya Vihar via the Sainik School. Similarly, vehicles coming from Kalinga Hospital Square to Jayadev Vihar will be diverted towards Acharya Vihar.

However, the ‘Mo Buses’, vehicles carrying players and match officials, emergency vehicles like ambulances and the ticket and pass holders  can travel on these roads by producing their passes and tickets.
