Tragic road mishap claims 2 lives in Bolangir, 2 others critical

Titlagarh: In a tragic road mishap, two persons were killed while two others were left with grievous injuries following a head-on collision between a truck and the auto they were travelling in.

The bone chilling incident occurred near Luhurapali square under Saintala police limits in Bolangir district Thursday morning. The deceased have been identified as Subal Sahu, a resident of Siskela village, and Kaibalya Majhi and the injured have been identified as Debashis Sahu, son of Subal Sahu, and the truck driver.

Subal, Debashis and Kaibalya were sweet vendors. The trio was traveling in a goods carrier auto-rickshaw to Kuikeda market to sell sweet items. As they were nearing Luhurapali square on NH-26, a fully loaded truck coming from the opposite direction hit the auto.

The intensity of the accident was so much that the auto-rickshaw and the truck were broken into pieces. The mangled remains of the auto-rickshaw and the truck overturned on the side of the road.

Subal and Kaibalya died on the spot while local residents rescued Debashis and the truck driver and rushed them to Saintala government hospital. Later, Debashis was shifted to Bolangir district headquarters hospital (DHH) for further treatment after his condition deteriorated.
