Bhubaneswar: Kalinga Gaurav will organise the semi-finals of Adi Rani Kalinga Tribal Queen competition at KIIT campus here June 21.
The contest finals will be held at Utkal Mandap June 24. More than 150 participants from 25 states are expected to participate in the competition.
Padmashree Awardee Tulsi Munda who is the brand ambassador for the competition informed Orissa Post that the competition is meant to uplift tribal women all over India.
Kalinga Gaurav head Chidtamika Khatua said the outfit has focused on the potential of tribal women. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Research and Training Institute (SCSTRTI) director Akhil Bihari Ota said, “The objective of the event is to promote tribal art and culture. Tribal women from different parts of the country will take part in the event.”
Sumuti Digal, a contestant, expressed her elation to be part of the competition. “I am excited to be part of the contest. There are many contestants I have to face. Let’s hope for the best,” she says.
Members of the jury include film director Sabyasachi Mohapatra and Akhil Bihari Otta.
