Puri: Amid tight security Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Lord Balabhadra and their sister Devi Subhadra were taken on a ‘goti pahandi’ by the servitors to the Ratna Bedi of Gundicha temple Friday.
Hundreds of devotees braving the monsoon shower witnessed the ‘goti pahandi’ when Balabhadra was first taken out of the chariot followed by Devi Subhadra and finally lord Jagannath at the end to the Ratna Bedi of the Gundicha temple.
Earlier, on Thursday evening all the three chariots reached Gundicha temple and were parked in front of the main gate while deities remained on their chariots throughout the night giving darshan to lakhs of devotees atop their respective chariots.
Every year Lord Jagannath along with his elder brother Balabhadra and sister Devi Subhadra riding three separate chariots came to their aunt’s house-Gundicha temple on a nine day annual sojourn.
The temple administration had given a facelift to the Gundicha temple as the temple complex was ravaged in the Fani cyclone which hit the pilgrim town May 3.
The Temple was coloured and entire complex was illuminated while a number of basic facilities were added for the pilgrims.
This year entire temple top, gates and complex was decorated with flowers which was a treat for devotees.
