Keonjhar: Truckers have ganged up against functionaries of Keonjhar Truck Owners’ Association over new membership, revision of mineral transport charges, and elections.
Truck owners thronged the association office Thursday and alleged that they were not enrolled as members even though they deposited their membership money at the association.
Significantly, elections to various posts in the association had not been conducted for several years. After lots of pressure, the election was held and new functionaries were elected, but they are not working in the interests of all truck owners.
It was alleged that many truck owners do not get loading slips as the first-come-first-serve policy while some influential truckers manage to grab slips. They also said that thought they had applied for membership four months ago, they have not yet been enrolled.
