Baripada: An elephant was found dead in Dhanashola forest under Morada block in Mayurbhanj district, Wednesday. Forest officials suspected that the animal had died three or four days ago. Foul smell pervaded in the area. Villagers of Dhanashola had rushed to the forest and found its carcass and intimated the forest department. The cause of the death is suspected to be due to electrocution as the area has 33kV transmission lines, said Betanoti ranger Ghanashyam Singh. A team of forest officials had started an investigation into the incident.
