Twin city students bring laurels to state

SOF OLYMPIAD

Bhubaneswar: Seven students from the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack brought laurels to the state by garnering international ranks in different categories at the prestigious SOF Olympiad.

Arihant Tripathy, a Class VII student of Sai International School, Bhavesh Patra a Class IV student from Mothers Public School, and Ansuman Abhijit Jena, a Class I student from St Xavier’s Public School, Cuttack, participated in (National Cyber Olympiad), (International Mathematical Olympiad) and ((International Mathematical Olympiad) respectively and all three secured the first rank internationally. They were awarded gold medals, merit certificates and Rs 50,000 cash each.

In National Cyber Olympiad category, Shashwat Das, a Class 7 student from Sai International School, and Om Aditya, a Class VIII student from Lumbini Public School in Bhubaneswar, Anjel Pradhan, a Class I student from DR Dev Mohanty Public School, Cuttack, were adjudged second internationally. All three received silver medals, merit certificates and Rs 25000 cash each.

Dibyajyoti Bhuyan, a Class I student of Freedom International School, secured the third rank internationally in the National Cyber Olympiad category. Dibyajyoti received a bronze medal, a merit certificate and Rs. 10, 000 in cash.

The Science Olympiad Foundation felicitated meritorious all the seven students at a function organised in Delhi recently.

Over 45,000 schools from 1,400 cities across 30 countries participated in the 6th SOF Olympiad examinations 2017-18, while a millions students appeared in the Olympiad. This year, participants from Bhubaneswar came out with flying colours in the Olympiad. While 66,039 students from Bhubaneswar participated in the Olympiad, 21,047 students from Cuttack took part in the event.

The SOF awarded top three international rank holders from Classes I-XII for the 6th Olympiad exams. In all, there were 180 awards.

The top 25 principals and top 50 teachers from 30 countries, whose students put up exceptional performances at the international level, were also felicitated with cash awards, mementos and citations.

Mahabir Singh, SOF founder-director, said, “Over 45,000 schools from 1400 cities across 30 countries participated in the six SOF Olympiad exams during 2017-18. About 55,000 students from 5,850 schools were awarded for achieving top ranks at the state-level. In addition, over 800,000 students were awarded ‘Medals of Excellence’ for achieving top ranks in their respective schools.”
