Twitterati come out in support of Dalit man Lokesh beaten for selling biryani

A 43-year-old Dalit man reportedly was thrashed by a group of men in the Rabapura area of Gautam Buddha Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh for selling biriyani. The matter came to the fore after a video of the incident went viral social media.

The video shows a man, who is not visible in the video, can be seen thrashing the biriyani seller while hurling casteist slurs at him. The victim, identified as 43-year-old Lokesh, is reportedly living hand-to-mouth by selling the food item on his ‘thela’ (moveable food stall/cart).

The victim in his complaint said that the four accused to him came to me in a four-wheeler and vandalised his cart in which he had kept veg biryani.
