Kendrapara: Aul police Thursday arrested two persons, including the computer programmer of Aul block office and a youth entrusted with geotagging of housing units, for their alleged involvement in housing scheme scam of a beneficiary in Arehikana panchayat.
The accused were identified as Himanshu Sekhar Das, computer programmer, and Biswal Ranjan Rout, informed Salil Kumar Pradhan, the IIC of Aul police station.
The duo allegedly prepared the tampered documents and transferred Rs 50,000 in two installments to the account of a beneficiary by making photograph despite the fact that the beneficiary has failed to construct house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana .
An allegation in this regard was brought to the notice of the Collector recently. When the matter came to the knowledge of Collector Samarth Verma, he directed the BDO of Aul to conduct an inquiry and take action against the errant employees.
BDO Jayant Kumar Prusty lodged an FIR at Aul police station against the duo after conducting a probe.
Aul police registered a case and arrested the accused who were later produced in a local court and remanded into jail custody, informed IIC Pradhan.
