Kendrapara: Two persons, including a senior citizen, were arrested by Mahakalapada Forest Range personnel for poaching a wild boar.
The poachers were booked under the Wildlife Protection Act and produced before the local court on Friday, which remanded them to judicial custody.
The forest personnel also seized the wild boar, weighing about 50 kg, a chopper, and a meat-cutting instrument (paniki) from those arrested, Ranger of Mahakalapada Forest Range Nalinikanta Behera said on the day.
The two accused killed the wild boar to sell its meat at Barajabahakuda village.
A forest team led by its ranger conducted a raid and managed to nab the two persons while they were trying to distribute the wild boar meat at the back of Samal’s house.
The seized meat was sent for autopsy and later buried inside the Mahakalapada Forest Range.
