Two bodies recovered from Jharsuguda, Ganjam; murder suspected

Jharsuguda/Berhampur: In two separate incidents, police recovered two dead bodies, one each from Jharsugudda and Ganjam districts Thursday. In both the cases, there are tell-tale signs of murder.

In the first incident, police recovered a body of a youth with limbs tied and head crushed beyond recognition from the middle of Jharsuguda-Sundargarh road near Grindola area under Lakhanpur police limits. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

Local people first spotted the body Thursday morning and immediately informed the police. On reaching the spot, the police recovered the body. Since the victim’s hands and legs were tied and the head seemed to have been crushed under the wheels of a vehicle, police suspect it to be a pre-planned murder case.

Registering a murder case, Lakhanpur police have launched an investigation into the case.

In the second incident reported from Digapahandi in Ganjam district, police recovered the body of a youth with his face covered with a polythene sheet.

Here too, local residents were the first ones to spot the body lying under a culvert on the Digapahandi main road near Baghjhari village.

On getting information from the villagers, police reached the spot and recovered the body. A motorcycle lying close to the body was also recovered.

While the police were yet to identify the deceased, they have suspected it to be a clear cut murder case.

Registering a case, the police have launched an investigation.
