Two bodies recovered from Kandhamal village, murder alleged

Kandhamal: Police Sunday recovered bodies of two men from Budulipadar area under Tumudibandh police limits of Kandhamal district.

The cops identified the deceased as Sankalp Nayak from Sagadia Sahi and Tapan Behera – a resident of Labanya Nagar.

The villagers initially spotted the bodies and informed the police. The police reached the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them to Tumudibandh community health centre (CHC) for autopsy.

Prima facie, it appears to be a case of murder, a villager said.

Villagers, meanwhile, staged a demonstration at the spot demanding compensation for the families of the deceased and immediate arrest of the culprits. Police officers held several rounds of talks with the agitating villagers but to no avail.

The situation at the spot remained tense at the time of filing the report. Cops have been deployed to avoid any major flare-up.
