Sambalpur: Two children undergoing treatment at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla have contracted coronavirus, hospital authorities said Saturday.
According to VIMSAR superintendent Dr Lalmohan Nayak, one of the kids is five years old while the second one is eight months old.
According to a source, the children were admitted to the hospital after they fell sick owing to some disease. Later their samples were collected and the reports tested positive for Covid-19.
They are undergoing treatment in the Covid-II ward of the hospital.
Notably, 32 children in the age group of 1-17 had tested positive for Covid-19 in Kendrapara within the first nine days of August.
While increasing cases of children testing positive for the infection are triggering fear among people, the government is claiming that they are well prepared with necessary infrastructure for the treatment of infected children.
