Two classmates to play Krishna-Balaram siblings

Bargarh: Two child artistes who are both classmates will enact the role of child Krishna and his elder sibling Balaram at the Bargarh Dhanu Yatra next year.

The Dhanuyatra which is the world’s largest open air-theatre is scehdeuled to start from January 11 next year and would conclude January 21.

The 11-day festival held at Mathura Nagari (Bargarh) is a theatrical representation of the childhood pranks of siblings Krishna and Balaram and the annihilation of demon king Kansa in the festival.

This year Ayush Birtia (10) son of Nandini and Pramod and a student of class-V in Ambapalli Nodal High School will enact the role of child Krishna while Ashutosh Birtia(10) son of Sujata and Seshadev in the same class and school will enact the role of Balaram in the Dhanu Yatra.

The Dhanu yatra core committee members Sushil Mohapatra, Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, Ishwar Mallick,Gourang Mallick and Satya narayan Podh were present during their selection for the Dhanu Yatra festival
