Two-day shutdown announced in Sundargarh’s Rajgangpur municipality area

Rourkela: Following the detection of several COVID-19 cases, the Sundargarh district administration Friday declared a two-day shutdown in the Rajgangpur municipality area.

The shutdown will be in force from August 8 to August 9.

During the two-day shutdown period, the district administration will undertake containment measures like contract tracing, symptom checking, ensuring isolation of suspected cases and door to door health screening of people.

The district administration has restricted movement of public and vehicles within and outside the district. Entry and exit points have been closed. All the residents in the district are strictly advised to remain at home.

The district administration has closed all the shops barring essential commodities and medical requirements.

All government and private institutions will also remain closed in the district. However, organisations related to health department in the district will be operational during the shutdown period.

With 110 new cases detected in Sundargarh Friday, the district’s total tally reached 1,992. Out of the total positive cases, 715 are undergoing treatment at hospitals while 1258 have recovered from the disease.

With three COVID-19 patients succumbing to the disease Friday, the death toll in the district increased to 16 while three COVID-19 patients died due to other diseases.
