Two dead, vehicle gutted in Mayurbhanj road mishap

Baripada: Two persons riding a two-wheeler were killed on the spot following a head-on collision with a car in Mayurbhanj district Saturday night. The vehicle they were riding was gutted in the fire that broke out following the incident.

According to sources, the road mishap took place on NH-61 along the Chitrada-Amarada road near Jhinkiria area under Morada police limits.

The car was on its way to Balasore town from Baripada. The ill-fated two-wheeler was coming from Rasagobindapur in Mayurbhanj district when it met with an accident, a police official said.

On being informed by locals, Rasagobindapur fire personnel and Morada police immediately rushed to the spot. Police recovered the bodies and sent them to Rasagobindapur hospital for postmortem.

Morada police registered a case in this connection and launched a probe. Police have been trying to find out the cause of the accident.

Identities of the deceased have not been ascertained yet.
