Two held for communal clash in Kendrapara

Kendrapara: The Special police squad with the help of Kendrapara Town police have arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in group clash between two communities June 3 at Badahat village under Kendrapara town police station.

Kendrapara SP Niti Sekhar identified the accused as Sheikh Hafizuddin (20) and Sheikh Khalil(65).

The SP said while Sheikh Hafizuddin was arrested Tuesday U/S147, 341, 452, 294, 323, 325, 354,354-B,379,307,506,149 IPC;25 Arms Act for his involvement in group clash Sheikh Khali was arrested U/S 212 IPC ( harbouring criminal).

Both the accused were produced before the SDJM court and the court remanded them into custody after rejecting their bail petitions.

Tension erupted between two different communities over a petty matter, resulting in group clash June 3 last at Badahat village. Three persons of a group, including father and his two sons, sustained critical injuries in the incident.

Later, the accused allegedly assaulted, snatched gold chain and some money from the family members, who came to rescue their family members.
