Sambalpur, Dec 30: Special force and district voluntary force, in a joint operation, arrested two ultras Tuesday from Naktideula forest in this district.

They were identified as Sanjeet Munda alias Ramesh (18), the deputy section in-charge of SDS (Sambalpur-Deogarh-Sundargarh) division, CPI(Maoist), a resident of Tintilighat village under Gua police limits in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand and Biswanath Bagta alias Akash (18) of Pankadihi village under Gurundia police limits in Sundargarh district. A case has been registered in the Naktideula police station and the ultras would be produced in a court Wednesday, Bijay Prakash Babu, the assistant commandant of anti-Naxalite cell, told media persons Tuesday at the conference hall of the office of the superintendent of police here.

Babu said, Sanjeet was inducted into the Maoists’ fold by Kunu Dehury and Anmol, hardcore ultra leaders of the SDS division, in 2010. He was actively involved in Maoist activities, including police-Maoist gun battles in Ulunda forest in Sonepur district July 2, 2013, in Landakote forest in Sambalpur district March 2, and in Kandloi reserved
forest in Angul district June 30 this year, the commandant added.

Biswanath, along with his two accomplices, joined the rebel group about three months back, police sources said, adding, the arrests would further weaken the ultras’ efforts to revive the movement.
