Malkangiri: Two female Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire with police at Aranpur police station area in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh on Malkangiri border Wednesday.
A huge cache of arms and ammunitions was also seized from the spot during search operation. The deceased Maoists were identified as Kumari Lakhe aka Madbi of Chenal Patelpara village under Kirndol police limits in Dantewada district and Mangali Padami of Paihagelur village under Basaguda police limits in Bijapur district, the police informed.
As per reports, acting on a tip-off about the presence of Maoist cadres of Darbha division in Nahadi forest, police conducted a search operation.
However, when the Maoists came to know about the search operation, they fired at the police party leading to an exchange of fire. After one hour, finally, the Maoists fled the spot.
Police recovered the bodies of the two female Maoists and seized a huge cache of Maoist items from the spot. One INSAS rifle, a 12-bore rifle, walkietalkie, Maoist uniforms and literature, wires, medicines, two tiffin boxes and other items were seized, police said.
