Soro (Balasore): Police arrested a man on charges of raping a six-year-old girl in Soro area of Balasore district.
As per reports, the incident took place Monday during Maha Shivaratri celebrations when the minor girl had been to a nearby temple. While she was returning home, the accused lured the victim by giving her chocolates and allegedly raped her.
Based on the complaint lodged by the girl’s family, police arrested the accused and forwarded him to court Sunday.
“Basing on the complaint of family members of the survivor, we registered a case against the accused and arrested him. We have forwarded him to the court,” said in-charge of Soro Police Station, Khyamasagar Panda.
After conducting medical tests, police has launched an investigation into the case.
Similarly, police Saturday arrested a youth for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl at Railway Colony in Rourkela of Sundargarh district.
According to sources, the accused youth identified as Ajay Rao alias Negalu allegedly picked up the girl while she was playing in front of her house and subsequently raped her. Ajay, however, fled from the spot after committing the crime, sources said.
Later, the locals nabbed Ajay and thrashed him before handing him over to the Plant Site police station officials. Ajay again tried to flee from the spot while he was being handed over to the police officials. However, he was nabbed and taken into custody by the police, sources added.
Meanwhile, the survivor has been admitted to the hospital.
Plant Site police station inspector in-charge (IIC), Anil Pradhan said “We registered a case and started investigations after the girl’s mother filed a complaint. Evidences suggest that the accused youth has committed the rape. We have arrested the youth and forwarded him to the court.”
