Rourkela: Two students drowned in Brahmani river while four others were saved by locals at Vedvyas shrine in Sundargarh district, Saturday morning.

The tragedy struck when a group of six students — two girls and four boys — visited the Vedvyas ghat and were bathing in the river.

Initially, they were believed to be students of NIT Rourkela, but later it was established that they belonged to different engineering institutes and had come to the institute for a summer internship programme.

The deceased duo was identified as Rajat Sahu from Balasore and Samiran Sukumar Nayak, from Raghunathpur, Patia in Bhubaneswar. Both were students of Sambalpur University of Information and Technology (SUIT).
