Two notorious criminals nabbed in Boudh

Boudh: Acting on a tip-off, a special police team Monday nabbed two dreaded criminals from Gochhapada village under Sadar police limits in Boudh district for their alleged involvement in several robbery incidents. The two accused have been identified as Siladitya Pradhan of Padmapur village and Tipu Behera of Janhapanka village.

A case has been registered and the two were produced in court on day. The two have several cases of loot, dacoity and attempt to murder registered against their names, police said.

According to the case diary, school teacher, Niran Meher was intercepted by the two while he was returning to his home at Kanakpur village after attending duty. The two accused held him at gunpoint and took away Rs 1,500, his mobile phone and motorbike. They also beat him up badly.

Acting on the complaint lodged by the school teacher, cops launched a manhunt and identified the duo. Later, a special team was formed to nab the duo. Based on a tip-off of their presence at Gochhapada village, police reached the village and arrested the duo. They also seized two sharp knives and 10 live bullets from the possession of the miscreants.

“The duo has gained notoriety for their involvement in several robbery cases in the district, police have been on their tail for long,” said Boudh SDPO while addressing media persons at his office. “We have identified a few of their aides and a search is on to nab them also.”
