Two OUAT students launch Startup

Bhubaneswar: Two Agriculture Engineering graduates of the Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Mama Mohanty and Mona Kumari, have launched a Startup, the first-of-its-kind by OUAT students. The company, DATORD-Daily Agro Tord Pvt. Ltd, will provide agri-insurance services to state farmers.
The company also intends to provide advisory services on crop health, weather, soil health management, seed availability, farm equipment, fertilizers and pesticides and all farm queries through a mobile phone app. The app will be available for farmers within six months.
Earlier, the two students had bagged the first prize in the national competition ‘Ag-Hack’ organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry in 2016 at Chandigarh. OUAT Vice-Chancellor Surendranath Pasupalak congratulated the students. He promised incubation space and logistics support to them. He also added that OUAT is grooming the entrepreneurial ability of students.
Earlier, three other students of the OUAT bagged the Best Startup Idea award at the National Startup Summit held at CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hissar during June 1-2, 2018. The three students, Gaurav Dutta, Jyotiranjan Nayak and Manoj Kumar Majhi, presented the idea ‘Waste is the Best’. This summit was attended by students from 22 Agricultural Universities of the country.
