Deogarh: Two poachers died when the bomb that they were preparing accidentally exploded Kalantichilandikhol village in Deogarh district, Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Ranjit Bhoi and Santosh Patta of Riamala area in the district.
Sources said that the two poachers were making bombs in a closed room to kill animals in the jungles. However, due to a glitch in mixing chemicals, an explosion took place in the room. The villagers and the relatives of the deceased reached the spot after hearing the explosion.
Though both Ranjit Bhoi and Santosh Patta were taken to the local hospital for treatment, they succumbed to the injury in the wee hours of Sunday.
However, it has been alleged that many villagers of the same village are illegal preparing explosives in order to kill wild animals and sell those at exorbitant prices.
To avoid all these illegal affairs and such ill-fated incidents in the future, Durjyodhana Dharua, a local leader of the village, called for a meeting Sunday morning.
On being informed about the meeting, police reached the spot. After confirming the matter from the police team, Deogarh SDPO Suleman Ekka and a scientific team reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
The body of the poacher duo have been seized and sent for post-mortem. Further investigation regarding the matter is underway.
