Two poachers arrested

Nilagiri: The prevalence of poachers has been increasing day by day at Kuladiha sanctuary in Balasore district as two poachers were arrested with one firearm, Sunday night. Rampant poaching has threatened the wild animals’ security in the sanctuary.

As per the report, Kuladiha forest ranger Ananta Kumar Jena along with the green force arrested two poachers and seized a countrymade firearm along with 20 lead shots, ammunition, red powder, knife, traps and matchsticks from their possession at Bharattanga Chhak under Kuldiha forest range under Nilagiri police limits in Balasore district while conducting night patrolling, Sunday. The arrested poachers were identified as Udaya Dhanika (47) of Jadibali village under Nilagiri police limits and Ajaya Singh (45) of Balichua village under Berhampur police limits in Balasore district. “Kuldiha forest department registered a case (No- 3K/2023-24) under Wildlife Protection Act Monday afternoon against the arrested poachers and forwarded them to court,” said Kuldiha forest ranger Jena.
