Bhadrak: Two police officials of Aradi outpost in Bhadrak district were transferred for inflicting injuries on two persons during a mask checking drive.
The incident, which took place three days ago, drew sharp reactions from various quarters.
After a video of the alleged police excess went viral, people in the region have demanded action against the guilty police personnel.
SP Charan Singh Meena has taken up the issue seriously and shifted two policemen – ASI Pradip Nayak and Havildar Ramesh Malick, to the district headquarters office after a preliminary investigation.
According to reports, two siblings of Betaligaon – Smrutiranajn Mekap and Subharanjan Mekap – were on way to Aradi on a bike. The two did not wear masks. They were intercepted by police near the outpost.
While arguments between the police and the two ensued, the siblings had video-recorded the scene. Seeing this, enraged policemen beat them.
