Two women electrocuted

Couple electrocuted to death while drying clothes in Koraput

Sambalpur: In a tragic incident, a woman and her mother-in-law were electrocuted to death in front of her two-year-old son at Tabataila village under Jujumura police limits in Sambalpur district, Friday morning. The deceased were identified as Padmini Mirdha (35) and her mother-in-law Sata Mirdha. Fortunately, after the incident, the child was saved as he came out of the house crying rather than going to her electrocuted mother.

As per reports, Sata got electrocuted while trying to plug a wire into the board around 8 am Friday. Upon hearing her scream, her daughter-in-law Padmini came to her rescue but got electrocuted to death. When the boy came out of the house crying, a youth from their neighbourhood went inside with the child to verify the incident. The family members then rushed both to Jujumura hospital, where the doctors pronounced them ‘brought dead’.

Later, post-mortem was done at VIMSAR, Burla. Informed, Jujumura police registered a case in this regard and handed over the bodies to her family members after the postmortem. A pal of gloom descended in the area after the news spread.
