Sohela: In a tragic road accident, two youths were killed after the bike they were travelling was hit by a truck in front of the WESCO grid on the national highway-6, 1.5 km from here in Bargarh district Wednesday night.
The deceased were identified as Yudhisthir alias Dharmaraj Sa (28) of Tandol village under Tungibandhali panchayat and Baladev Bhoi of Chitakhai village under Baunsenamura panchayat. Both were bachelors.
According to reports, Yudhisthir, who had a bike repairing shop at Sohela police station square, and Baladev, who recently joined the shop, were on their way to Bargarh on a new Apache bike after closing their shop. A truck coming from the opposite direction hit and dragged them. The impact was so severe that the bike was ripped apart, leading on to the spot death of both the rider and pillion rider.
After the incident the driver left the spot and walked towards Sohela. On seeing a police van, he waived his hand to stop the vehicle and informed about the accident.
Police reached the spot and sent the bodies to Bargarh district headquarters hospital (DHH) for post-mortem.
On getting information, several people from both the villages thronged the spot.
As the deceased duo were from very poor families, the villagers demanded compensation for the next of their kin.
