Rourkela: Two mutilated bodies were recovered from a railway track near Panposh Railway Station in Sundargarh district Friday.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered the bodies and sent to Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) for post mortem.
It was some passengers that first spotted the bodies – one lying in the middle of the track and the second one, cut into pieces, lying close to the railway track – at about 5am. They immediately informed the GRP.
Later GRP personnel reached the spot and recovered the mutilated bodies. Their efforts are underway to ascertain the identities of the deceased, it was learnt.
The GRP personnel are of the opinion that the two youths might have been run over by a train either Thursday night or in the wee hours of Friday. They have launched an investigation into the incident.
Notably, a youth was charred to death after he came in contact with the wire while clicking selfies atop a train at Paralakhemundi Railway Station in Gajapati district Wednesday evening.
