Ramgarh (Jharkhand): A 35-year-old unemployed man allegedly killed his father an employee of Central Coal Fields Limited (CCL). The tragic killing took place at Barkakana in the district. The man killed his father to get a job in the PSU on compassionate ground, police said Sunday.

Krishna Ram (55) was the head security guard posted in Central Workshop of CCL. He was found dead with throat slit early Thursday, police said informed.

Prakash Chandra Mahto, Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), told a press conference Saturday that his elder son Ram had killed him. He committed the crime when his dad was sleeping at the company’s quarters. Police have recovered a small hummer knife used in the crime and mobile phone of deceased, Mahto said.

Police claimed that elder son of Ram confessed during interrogation that he murdered his father. He did so to get a CCL job on compassionate ground.

As per provisions of CCL, legal dependent of an employee would be given a job if the employee dies during his service tenure. Trying to take advantage of this rule, Ram had killed his father. He was keen to marry and so he needed a job desperately. During interrogation, he tried to fool the police. He told them that he was somewhere else at the time of the murder. However, on persistent questioning, he confessed to his crime.
