Berhampur: Former Berhampur Municipality Corporation corporator Krushna Sethi’s son Gourav Sethi alias Chinku was attacked by some unidentified miscreants in Sitadimbera lane under Badabazar police limits of Ganjam district late Tuesday night.
He was rushed to the MKCG Medical College and hospital in critical condition.
According to Berhampur Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Gourav has a licensed foreign liquor shop at Sanbazar chowk. His liquor shop’s manager had an exchange of words with some of the customers over money matters Tuesday. On being informed, Gourav reached the shop.
Later, the one of the youths called up Gourav to Sitadimbera to solve the dispute where he reached along with one of his friends. As many as 10-15 unidentified young men there attacked him brutally and attempted to kill him. They also threatened his friend and forced him to remain mum.
Later, Gavurav was rescued and was rushed to MKCG Medical College and hospital. He has 35 stitches in his head, his father said.
On being informed police reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.
