BHUBANESWAR: In a multicultural country like India, it is important to sensitise young children about all festivals, their importance and ways of celebration to create acceptance and break barriers.
The Little Harvard Preschool at Satyanagar here has taken the first step towards this Saturday with its students celebrating Navratri in a unique manner.
This Navratri, the Little Harvard Preschool is organising a three-day cultural introduction and sensitisation programme. There will be different events for children aged between 2.5 and 15 years, and to educate them on the way Navratri is celebrated in Gujarat, including cooking classes to teach them about delicacies prepared during the festival.
The children will also be informed about the history of the festival. Along with the celebrations, the kids will be introduced to the arts and crafts of Gujarat, like the Lippan art and weaving. There will also be Garba and Dandia lessons to fine tune the cultural education programme.
Sumitra Jagdev, a parent said, “The Little Havard Preschool is different from other preschools as it teaches students the basics of culture and heritage which is essential. Around 60 students participated in the Navratri fest.”
