UP minister invites CM, Guv to Kumbh Mela

Bhubaneswar: Sports and Youth Welfare Minister of Uttar Pradesh Chetan Chouhan visited Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Governor Ganeshi Lal Friday to invite them to the historical Kumbh Mela commencing January 15 at Prayagraj.

At a presser here, Chouhan said, “All Cabinet ministers are asked to visit each state and invite CM and Governor to the Mela. Over 5,000 NRIs will join the Kumbh Mela. Also, people from over 6 lakh villages of India and overseas devotees will participate in the grand spiritual event.”

Chouhan said the UP government has earmarked Rs 2,800 crore for Kumbh Mela-2019 along with other various projects. He informed the media that around Rs 1,214 crore was spent for the various arrangements at Kumbh-2013.

“For convenience of tourists and devotees visiting the mega event, the state government has made available the facility of modern and smooth traffic movement to Prayagraj by constructing nine flyovers in only last one and a half years,” he added.
