Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) December 20 released the Combined Defence Service (CDS-I) 2024 notification on its official website.

The UPSC CDS-I examination, 2024 will be held April 21 next year for admission to 457 vacancies in various courses at different Indian military institutes.

Interested candidates fulfilling all the eligibility criteria can apply online at upsc.gov.in before January 9, 2024.

The application correction window will be active from January 10, 2024, to January 16, 2024, on the website.

Candidates are expected to avail their admit cards seven days before the examination commencement.

Indian Military Academy, Dehradun: 100

Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala: 32

Air Force Academy, Hyderabad: 32

Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai (Madras): 275

Officers Training Academy, Chennai (Madras): 18

Eligibility criteria:

Age limit: As of January 1, 2025, the candidate’s age should be between 20 and 24 years.

Educational qualification: Candidates applying to the Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai, must hold a degree from a recognised university or its equivalent.

Aspiring candidates for Indian Naval Academy must possess a degree in Engineering from a recognized university or institution.

For the Air Force Academy, candidates must have a degree from a recognised university, with Physics and Mathematics at the 10+2 level, or a Bachelor of Engineering.

Application fee:

Candidates, except Female/SC/ST candidates (who are exempt from the payment of fees), need to submit a fee of Rs200. This fee can be paid by either depositing the amount in any branch of SBI in cash or utilizing Visa/ Master/ Rupay Credit/ Debit Card/ UPI Payment or through the internet banking facility of any bank.

Combined Defence Service (CDS) is conducted twice a year and there is no major difference between both of them. The CDS-I examination is conducted in the first half and the CDS-II exam is conducted in November every year.
