New Delhi: The state government will file a rejoinder in Vamsadhara Water Dispute Tribunal Friday in response to Andhra Pradesh’s proposal of joint survey of the Vamsadhara River.
During the hearing in the tribunal, the state of Andhra Pradesh expressed its willingness to conduct joint survey of the river, which was demanded by Odisha. Odisha will file a rejoinder in the tribunal stating the procedure of joint survey to be conducted at the river.
Earlier, March 6, Odisha had pleaded for the survey of Vamsa River from Kashinagar to Gunupur, around 37 km, to check that how much silt will be accumulated after the construction of barrages. The state had also raised certain objections with respect to the award of the tribunal in the river water dispute.
The tribunal had asked the Union government and Andhra Pradesh to file their affidavits in response to Odisha’s arguments.
The Union government had made submission in respect of the clarification sought by state of Odisha Wednesday.
The tribunal observed that in support of his submission, the counsel appearing for the Centre referred to certain documents prepared by central water commission assessing 75 per cent dependability of Vamsadhara at Gotta barrage.
The state of Andhra Pradesh also submitted their arguments in response to the application of Odisha in the river water dispute.
