Veteran actor visits Srimandir

Puri: Veteran actor of the Hindi film industry, Mithun Chakraborty, visited Srimandir in Puri and sought blessings of Lord Jagannath here.

His visited with his family and was accompanied by his family members, priests and senior Daitapati Ramakrishna Das Mohapatra. According to sources, he bowed before the Patitapabana near Singha Dwar and then proceeded to have a darshan of the Holy Trinity’s Abakasa Niti from the Bhitara Kaatha.

“He also offered his prayers to Nila Madhab, Bimala Devi, goddesses Saraswati and Lakshmi and toured the Ananda Bazaar, as well,” informed Das Mohapatra. The Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) had made prior arrangements for Chakraborty to have darshan of the deities Thursday.

According to sources, the actor had come to seek blessings of the Lord after the completion of a vow. He would also offer meals to Brahmins (Brahmana Bhojan). He reached the holy town of Puri last night and will leave this afternoon.
