Veteran Dilip Kumar files Rs 200 crore defamation notice to builder

Mumbai: Veteran actor Dilip Kumar and his wife Saira Banu Khan slapped a defamation notice to builder Sameer Bhojwani for making false claims of ownership of their Rs 250 crore property in suburban Bandra.

The notice states that if Rs 200 crore is not given within 10 days, the actors will go ahead and file for criminal proceedings against Bhojwani.

The notice sent December 31 sought an apology from Bhojwani and Rs 200 crore in damages for defaming them in public with his statements. The entire case dates back to a few months and is in relation to a plot of land in Pali Hills where Banu wants to make a museum dedicated to Kumar.

But in December 21, 2018, Bhojwani issued a public notice published in the Mumbai media through Bhojwani’s lawyer, Digvijay Singh.

“It is discouraging to go through such a tumultuous phase at this age. They property rightfully belongs to Yusuf Khan saheb (Dilip Kumar). We neither have the support nor the strength to go through this continuous harassment by Sameer Bhojwani, whose only focus seems to usurping our land,” a distraught Saira Banu said.

Notably, the couple earlier approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis seeking their help.
