VHP seeks ordinance to build temple

Koraput: Extending support to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) demand for the enactment of a legislation in the winter session of Parliament which commenced December 11 for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the district unit of the VHP here organised a massive rally and meeting, the Vishal Hindu Samilini, at the Dusherra Stadium here Monday.

Addressing the meeting, leaders of VHP and other RSS affiliates urged the Centre to respect the sentiments of the Hindu majority and facilitate the construction of the Ram Temple.

With the Supreme Court taking its own time to pronounce a verdict in the Ram temple case, they strongly asked the Modi Government to issue an ordinance for constructing the Ram temple.

“It is the responsibility of an elected government to honour public sentiments. The Modi Government has been ignoring the majority’s demand for a temple at Ayodhya. After waiting for so long to realise their dream of having a temple at the birthplace of Lord Ram, the people have started losing patience,” said senior VHP leader and member of the Central Advisory Board of the Parishad Mahamandeleswar Akhileswarananda Giri Maharaj.

Expressing displeasure over the delay in constructing the temple, the VHP leader from Jabalpur said those in the corridors of power in New Delhi had promised to build a Ram temple. But they have failed to keep their promise. The time has come to take a decision failing which the people of the country will give them a befitting reply, he said addressing the rally.

People from the undivided Koraput district gathered at the stadium here and raised slogans demanding construction of the temple as soon as possible.

The meeting was presided over by the executive secretary of VHP’s Odisha unit Saroj Pradhan and district president Babu Bhai Bajrangi. District VP Nabakrushna Ratha, district executive president Tejeswar Panda and district secretary Kamlakanta Biswal attended the meeting.
