Video of doc seeking bribe goes viral

Digapahandi: A video of a doctor posted in Digapahandi community health centre demanding bribe from unemployed youths and students for providing health certificates has gone viral on social media platforms, a report said Thursday.

The doctor is seen demanding a bribe of Rs 100 from each unemployed youth who visits him for a health certificate for applying for home guard posts in the police department.

The incident has led to anger among the residents. Former Digapahandi Notified Area Council chairperson Prafulla Panda, CPI state committee member Alak Nath Mishra and BJP’s Ganjam district unit vice-president Paresh Chandra Rath have demanded the arrest and dismissal of the doctor.

When contacted on his mobile phone, the doctor admitted to have received money from some youths. The doctor claimed that this will not create any problem for him.

Thursday was the last date for receiving applications for 219 posts of home guards in the police department in Ganjam district, it was learnt.
