Allahabad: A retired policeman was allegedly beaten to death by goons on a street in Uttar Pradesh.
The CCTV camera footage showed a man mercilessly beating the 70-year-old retired sub-inspector Abdul Samad Khan with a stick.
Later, two others joined the man and beat Abdul until he was motionless.
Khan’s one arm was almost mutilated and he later died at the hospital. The brutal attack took place in broad daylight Monday morning. The Allahabad police said initial investigations suggested that the men attacked Khan because of a land dispute and they were his relatives.
The video which went viral showed Khan falling to the ground while trying to shield himself. Though several people passed by the spot, but none came to his rescue.
The police have named 10 people in the First Information Report but no arrest has yet been made. The main attacker is believed to be Junaid, who has at least 10 criminal cases pending against him at the local police station.
