Bhadrak: A five-member Vigilance team started investigation into alleged irregularities in various development and infrastructure related work in Bhadrak Autonomous College Saturday. The Vigilance team dug up a road to test its quality.
Reports said, a Rs 2 crore project of the college had been carried out hurriedly two years ago. There were allegations of irregularities in the work and attention of the Chief Minister and the Vigilance department was drawn to this.
The road and building department had executed all the work. Bhadrak Vigilance was carrying out an investigation. Two inspectors of Balasore Vigilance along with three other officials checked various documents like tender copy, estimate and MB books at the office of the executive engineer, assistant engineer, and junior engineer Saturday.
No tender was floated for the work in 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 and the work was split up among 25 contractors. Vigilance inspectors Manasi Jena and Anirudha Nayak checked the cement concrete road on the college premises by digging up a portion. They also checked the painting of the classroom walls. They also reportedly completed mismatch between records and work in reality.
The investigation team said that the report will be submitted to Balasore Vigilance SP.
